Coakley takes Ugly to a Whole New Level
I got this in the mail today. Stay classy, Martha!
It's a well known fact that, in a political race, whichever campaign goes negative first usually perceives themselves to be in trouble. Here in Massachusetts, heading towards our special election to fill Ted Kennedy's seat, the Democrats' seat, the people's seat, the same rules apply. It came as no surprise to anyone here that, after the final debate of the campaign this past Monday night, the attack ads started flying.
No, the negative ads weren't launched by the Scott Brown Campaign out of desperation, in fact no negative ads are circulating from his camp at all. (Which is surprising, since the Coakley campaign provided plenty of material for negative ads, both inside the debate and from the crowds of supporters outside.) Martha Coakley, the candidate who at one point during this election was up 30 points over Brown, is now so desperate that she is completely bombarding Massachusetts with attack ads (in some cases multiple ads in a row on television). Her first ad coming just shortly after the debate Monday night.
I'll save you 30 seconds of your life you'll never get back and just show your the pinacle moment of the ad:
We've all seen attack ads before, but how often do you seen an approved attack where the name of the state in which the candidate is running is misspelled. For those that don't see it, there's an extra "e" at the end that shouldn't be there.
MASSACHUSETTS
Now, to Scott Brown's credit, he's resisted the mudslinging and has kept his focus on the issues. As illustrated in his response to the attack ad above:
You figure, after a response like that, Martha Coakley would back down on the attack ads and actually address some of the issues that are concerning voters here in the Bay State. Sadly no, and while the attack ads stack up on TV and radio as special interest groups like Moveon.organd unions like the SEIU dump tons of cash into the state, I find these gems in my mailbox when I get home from work tonight
Never in my life have I ever seen such over-the-top shenanigans. These weren't sent by some rogue PAC or Union either. If you look closely at the second picture in the top left you'll see thatthese were paid for by the MASSACHUSETTS DEMOCRATIC PARTY!
Now, in comparison, the mailings below I received from the Scott Brown Campaign today. If you're wondering how Scott Brown went from being down by 30 points to being up by 4 points, it has to do with the issues. He'll talk about them; she won't. It's about being respectful. He is; she isn't. Most importantly it's about class. He has it; she doesn't.
I encourage you to look through his fliers and try to find anything negative at all.
